This is THE place to be when it comes to satisfying any cravings for the best in wholefoods and all things homemade with a wider emphasis on well-being for all. The Hub Cafe and Community enterprise is in a former Methodist Chapel, in the heart of Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria.

In early 2015 the future of the centre was in jeopardy.

Severe flooding in 2015 meant that significant investment was needed by Cumbrian charity, The Oaklea Trust to get the venture back on its feet and, in the Spring of 2016, the Appleby Hub was launched.

The Hub Cafe is open Wednesday to Saturday, from 10am to 3pm with a menu full to the brim with tasty artisan whole-foods & everything prepared by the Right2Work team.

The vision is for the centre to be a ‘hub’ for the local community and for all interests, ages and abilities with a focus on creativity and well-being.(The Hub Cafe offers day opportunities for people with learning disabilities).

In Spring 2019 Appleby Hub came under the wing of Right2Work.

New for 2020 - The Eden Workshop at Appleby Hub!

Jane at “The Eden Workshop” offers quality workshops as well as drop in crafts, developing craft kits to sell, and with the help of Patrizia who oversees the Hub Kitchen & Cafe, some Foodie Workshops and much more. Jane finds the best tutors and invites them to share their skills, the workshops are small, generally max of 7 so they are informal thus offering plenty of opportunity to interact with each other & the tutor.

Flour power? Yes we know the Hub is known for its excellent baking….but this is the other flower power! In 2018 it was also a “blooming” award winning Hub – thanks to the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society)

Oh -did we mention…we also have a climbing wall – contact us regarding sessions!

In February 2019 the Hub played host to the Mid Morning Show from BBC Radio Cumbria -the entire BBC team camped out in the cafe and broadcast for 3 hours 0900-1200. The BBC team spoke to a wide variety of people who use the Hub and R2W/Oaklea services – including some of our younger visitors!

Whatever way you cut it – the Appleby Hub is the place to be!
