The Furniture Warehouse

Retail – Reuse – Recycle -Upcycle -we’ve got the lot!

APRIL 2021 Update England #Lockdown3: Please note our retail outlet re-opens to the public as per HM Government guidance on Monday 12 April (normal opening hours Mon-Sat 0900-1600); Our day services and SLDC collections have continued throughout lockdown with day service groups being limited to 15 people and working within a COVID safe environment.

Since 2011, Right2Work has been collecting and recycling unwanted furniture from residents throughout South Cumbria. We have a clear focus on recycling, reusing and directing waste away from landfill.

Right2Work is a Community Interest Company (CIC), which means we carry out activities which fulfil a community purpose.

We work in partnership with South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) to provide bulky waste collection services – this includes large household items such as electrical goods and furniture.

This is a paid for service and collections can be arranged by calling SLDC on 01539 733 333.

We are able to collect some items of furniture free of charge if they are in good condition and we may be able to recycle and re-sell.

If in any doubt about what may be suitable or what is suitable for free collection, please contact us and we’ll be able to advise.

All the items Right2Work collect are repaired, if possible, and offered for sale in our Furniture Warehouse, an outlet full of quality pre-loved furniture. We also sell some new items including small home accessories and mattresses.

We have a dedicated ‘Recycling Centre’ at our Mintsfeet Industrial Estate site where items that are not reusable are broken down into component parts and each part is then recycled appropriately.Last year, by reselling items and refurbishing items we were able to divert over 120 tonnes away from landfill.

We only send materials to landfill as a very last resort.

Our furniture is sold at affordable prices and we have new stock coming in on a daily basis. (In the near future we aim to set up an ECommerce capacity so you can buy online!).

The money we generate supports the Right2Work social enterprise, enabling us to support more people with disabilities to gain the skills and experience they need to get into work.

Keep up to date with current items in stock on our Facebook page or by calling into see us at The Furniture Warehouse at Mintsfeet Industrial Estate in Kendal (Near Hayes Garden World depot).
