The Furniture Warehouse are very much open virtually for the sale of items during #Lockdown2
That’s partly down to the crack team of Learners and employees at the Work & Learn Suppoerted Internship team.
Here’s learner Sam Dewhurst, explaining why:
“Since 2011, R2W has worked in partnership with South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) to provide bulky waste collection services – this includes large household items such as electrical goods and furniture. Items in good condition get sold on in our retail shop, some pieces get lovingly repaired by our team and everything else is stripped down and recycled. We have a clear focus on recycling, reusing and directing waste away from landfill. The money we generate supports the Right2Work social enterprise, enabling us to help more people with gain the skills and experience they need to get work.”
But it’s all change at the moment Sam…..
“Indeed – because of the November lockdown, the shop has had to close its doors to the general public. Collections are still taking place so the Supported Internship team have taken over the selling of goods on the TFW Facebook page. Now the team is working hard behind closed doors to offer reasonably priced household items which could also make a perfect Christmas gift. The team are also offering gift-wrapping service for smaller items.
We would usually be out on placement now with our Job Coaches but this is on hold due to Lockdown, so we are using our skills to lend a helping hand to the Furniture Warehouse team, whilst building our employability skills.”
Nice one Sam…..and what can people do if they want to browse or buy?
