“Keiron Goodwin, one of the Furness students with the R2W Supported Internship team, is seen undertaking a taster day with specialist commercial butchers, Ulverston Meat Company. Daniel Weston and John Gray, directors of the business, kindly agreed to take Keiron under their wings for a day to teach him some of the important skills involved in preparing meats for some of the top chefs around Cumbria.
As part of his remit for securing as much work experience as possible on his route towards becoming a fully trained chef, Keiron has enjoyed being part of the Ulverston Meats team for the day and has gained some amazing new skills and inside knowledge that will be of tremendous benefit to his future career. Stepping out of his regular placement at Abbey House Hotel in Barrow, where Keiron works alongside renowned Head Chef Ashley Wood, Keiron is looking forward to putting some of these new skills to good use when he gets back to his Internship placement.”
Grant adds: “Keiron is extremely passionate about food and cooking in general and has impressed all of the employers he has worked with, with his self motivation, impeccable timekeeping and keenness to learn and work hard. The future looks promising for this aspiring young chef”.
