We all know the benefits to our mental health and overall wellness that Craft has – well now R2W parent, the Oaklea Trust charity will benefit too from our latest offer from The Eden Workshop.
The Eden Workshop at the R2W Appleby Hub has a very varied schedule of Craft & Cooking workshops using local artists and tutors. This also in turn supports the arts & craft community which has also been hard hit over the past year.
Eden Workshop tutor Jane Farkins (above): “The workshops are a mix of half day, full day and two day. On offer we have weaving, bag making, learning to use a sewing machine, dressmaking, soap making and upholstery to name a few – full details and booking can be found on our newly updated workshop website www.theedenworkshop.co.uk/workshops “
Jane adds the workshop is now planning for next year: “We have exciting plans for 2021. For example a monthly Craft & Wellbeing session. Here there’ll be wholesome Hub made soup & bread, endless hot drinks and a selection of crafts to try as well as craft magazines and board games.”
This is all with the ever present background of Covid19 which has been challenging for everyone – you can rest assured all our workshops are Covid secure.
Appleby Hub Manager, Sarah Jones:
“There have been many changes over the last year – but despite the difficulties we feel we are stronger than ever to move forward; our café has actually increased in capacity and moved into a larger space where it is now also host to The Appleby Times Exhibition, it’s former space in the second hand bookshop is now a busy craft shop stocking locally made arts and crafts – which supports local artists. Our studio spaces are full and we took on The Eden Workshop at the start of the year to offer both full day craft workshops and shorter sessions – we’ve added to that by offering food based workshops which share many of our kitchen secrets – as does a Recipe Book which we hope will be out in time for Christmas. Our craft kits have also been popular too – especially during lockdowns and a new jigsaw library timed just before the second lockdown proved a hit too.”
