It has been quite a year to reflect upon (understatement warning!) -though remember this report is mainly looking at March 2019 to March 2020.
Acting Chair of R2W Jane Sullivan:
“This year has been seen R2W grow from strength to strength, doing what it does best: supporting those in our communities. And what a year it has been! As a board, we are delighted with the progress R2W has made this year. R2W is a complex business with many different elements making up the whole, each with its own way of working. Nevertheless, the teams consistently demonstrate dedication and commitment to each other and their learners to ensure the strategic goals of the business are met. They continue to innovate and seek opportunities to support more people and, as testament to this, we have seen several new and exciting projects grow and develop this year. This has put R2W in a good financial position and we are delighted to be able to donate money to Oaklea Trust whilst building up our own reserves.
It is also wonderful to see the successes that R2W’s learners have had throughout the year and the case studies below are just the tip of the iceberg. It is often hard to imagine the struggles that some people face every day, and these examples remind us of the important work that R2W is undertaking and the positive impact it is having.
Even under the most challenging situation the country has faced since World War II, the staff and learners pulled together and developed new ways to support the community during the early stages of the COVID pandemic. They demonstrated the resilience and determination to make sure that those who needed them the most, and more than ever before, continued to benefit from their help and support.
We don’t know what new challenges the next year will bring for the R2W team, but one thing we do know for sure: the challenges will be met head on by a capable group of people who always have a smile on their faces.”
Many thanks to all who appear/are featured in this report – it is appreciated
