R2W Director, Sue Wigley was invited to present at the recent Cumbria Learning Disability and Autism Partnership Board at Cumbria House in Carlisle. The theme was Getting and Having a Job
Other presenters were People First Hospitality Academy; 4Eden and Westhouse as well as many individuals talking about their experiences both good and bad, of working.
Sue tells us more: “Cumbria County Council HR department also talked to us about what they are doing to help support people with Autism to get jobs within the council. A series of workshops were also held and explored:
- What job would you have loved to do?
- What stopped you getting that job?
- What does good support to get a job look like?
It was a really positive event that enabled the County Council, providers and those with disabilities to think about the barriers to work for people with a disability.”
