Wheel it in – R2W Annual Report 2018 – All about retaining our DNA

R2W’s Annual Report for 2018 is now available.

Chair Phil Shea is incredibly proud of what has been achieved by the team and partners and those we support: “R2W is a growing and thriving organisation that carries out an increasingly diverse range of activities from a well organised and bustling centre. We are a Community Interest Company (CIC) and are part of the Oaklea Trust – as such it is in a fantastic position to further expand and develop.

We are a successful business that makes a good working profit. This ‘realness’ is an essential characteristic of the organisation and is one of the things that enables it to work well in the diverse fields it operates in.

These are exciting times at R2W as we look at the direction the company will go in whilst retaining its essential DNA. We strive to enhance the learning, well-being and involvement in the community. It is a pleasure and a privilege to serve as Chair.”

Achievements 2017/18 include:

  • Furniture Warehouse diverted 125 tonnes away from landfill
  • 51 individuals gained paid employment through our support
  • 70.8% recycled/reused of all the bulky waste we collected in South Lakeland
  • Provided support to 293 individuals

Directors of R2W Clive Wigley and Susan Wigley discuss future plans with Chair Phil Shea. Susan Wigley; “R2W is all about nurturing potential and the report clearly demonstrates the many things achieved in the past year. R2W is maturing as an organisation. To support its development more fully the Board of Directors are also reviewing the governance structure of the organisation and will ensure it is fit to take on these new challenges and exciting times ahead.”
